The brand name
A little over 60 acres filled with rock rose plants (aládano or ladaniá), rocks and thyme. Not a trace of soil to be found. The olives take on the fragrance of the little pink flower with the yellow center, and the thyme. This is the smell that comes bursting through when you open the bottle: olive, rock rose and thyme, and perhaps a whiff of the saltiness of the sea which surrounds Trikeri.
The bees are attracted to the rock rose shrubs, a plant known since antiquity for its healing properties and mentioned in works by Dioscurides, Herodotus and Hippocrates. It fights hair loss and infections, it is used as a tonic or as a poultice for malignant sarcomas, it heals stomach and intestinal ulcers, it relieves colds, tooth ache, insomnia and diarrhea. It is referred to countless times in historical and religious texts, and nowadays rock rose flower essence is used by the perfume industry as a stabilizer.
It is the aládano, this humble little flower, which is the link between the oil and honey produced by Aris Sarigiannis. Its powerful fragrance and vivid colour gently permeates Aris’s products and infuses them with its benefits.
